No risk of galling – improved NVH
With overmoulded MELDIN® yokes the clearance between yoke and housing can be minimized and the risk of metal-to-metal contact eliminated. This contact in conventional designs can lead to metal adhesion and therefore galling as well as noise. Where higher damping is a requirement a special design feature can be incorporated.
Reduced processing and assembly cost
Overmoulded yokes provide an all-in-one solution. The machining step on the body as well as the assembly step of the o-ring and classic bearings are eliminated. This reduces the associated cost of handling, logistics and quality control. The lack of o-rings also simplifies the final assembly step.
Long lifetime and reduced rack shaft cost
The high wear resistant materials used for the overmoulded yokes and clip-on bearings provide for high durability. In extraordinary conditions of loading, the increased material thickness still guarantees the life of the component.
Also the demands for the rack quality are decreased. As a consequence, the machining costs are significantly lower.
